Detailed Description
The full-time, New York-based position is responsible for the developing and executing on pro-active media relations outreach programs that promote E*TRADE’s products and services, yielding personal finance coverage. The position reports to the Company’s Senior Director of Corporate Communications and is responsible for managing announcements and proactively promoting E*TRADE’s product and services in the United States.
The ideal candidate is self-driven, results-oriented problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. The position will have the opportunity to work closely with senior executives to develop and deliver complex financial communications to stakeholder audiences.
Key Accountabilities:
- Drive pro-active press coverage, developing and executing on media outreach strategies for business, personal finance and vertical media
- Develop relationships that can be leveraged to E*TRADE’s advantage with key media, industry analysts, vendor partners
- Create and implement product/service announcement plans
- Support communication initiatives associated with corporate financial and business announcements
- Place and support company executives at industry speaking opportunities
- Write media pitches, press releases, fact sheets, advertorials and bylined articles
- Prepare executives for media interviews and speaking opportunities — supply key messaging as well as relevant background information
- Prepare customer case studies for media placement
- Drive industry intelligence monitoring and reporting
Job Requirements
Skills/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Journalism or Communications or equivalent experience required
- Minimum of 5 years of related experience in public relations, preferably in an agency setting with financial services experience
- Proven ability to develop a PR plan and execute on it
- Extensive media relations experience required
- Excellent writing, editing, research and organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal communications skills and the ability to motivate others
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
- Proven ability to garner media coverage as a result of pro-active outreach programs
