Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the Director of New Media this position is responsible for managing, maintaining and the daily operation of NESN’s website. Collaborate with Creative Services, Sales, News, Promotions and Engineering to produce and maintain a high-quality website. This is an opportunity to be a part of the design and development of NESN’s web presence and be a major contributor to the development of NESN’s New Media department. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Act as the website design and development specialist for NESN * Manage NESN.com's software development process, including coordination between NESN and its external vendors * Provide support for sales transactions as it relates to online advertisement: create banner ads, maintain the ad(vertising) management system, run ad(vertising) reports, etc * Program various applications in HTML and ASP.NET * Utilize Adobe Photoshop to create and customize Web graphics * Customize Flash animation based on various requirements * Work with the Sales, News, Creative Services, and other members of the NESN staff on web implementation of various campaigns/promotions * Manage and work with various content management systems * Integrate text images, audio and video file components, and links to relevant Internet resources into an appealing and thoughtful online package * Create and edit online content * Plan, develop and implement interfaces, web pages and tools for site navigation * Develop web-compliant and creative online advertising * Successfully juggle and complete multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize appropriately * Learn, keep current with and utilize new technologies and methods as appropriate * Successfully complete other related tasks/projects as needed EDUCATION: * Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related degree. QUALIFICATIONS: * Must have 3+ years experience with designing and developing medium to large-scale websites; experience with television station website development a plus. * Solid experience using HTML, DHTML, Cascading Style Sheets and JavaScript; must be able to hand-code HTML and not use WISWIG. * Database experience helpful and experience with ASP.NET a plus * Experienced in Adobe Photoshop (advanced) and Illustrator, Macromedia Fireworks and Flash, MS Front Page or Dreamweaver * Proficient in Windows, MS Office, Internet browsers (IE and Mozilla), and Internet operations * Proven ability to integrate text images, audio and video file components, and links to relevant Internet resources into an appealing and thoughtful online package * Experience in creating or editing online content, the production processes of Internet sites, and working knowledge of marketing principles and concepts * An extensive understanding of GUI design, information design, interactive design and web usability through planning, developing and implementing interfaces, web pages and tools for site navigation * Experience in developing web-compliant online advertising creatively * Proven ability to juggle multiple projects and prioritize effectively * Ability and willingness to learn new applications * Solid written and verbal communication skills. * Ability to successfully work in a fast paced, loosely structured, growing and changing work environment * Must be a self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision but also able to work effectively within a team environment * Must possess a positive attitude
