Description The Director, International Tax and Special Projects is responsible for providing counsel to various business groups including Accounting, HR, Treasury, Legal and foreign controllers. Responsible for all areas of international tax compliance, planning, reorganizations and audit support. The incumbent will also co-manage IRS audit progression as well as recommend and execute global audit planning strategies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Responsible for quarterly and annual FAS 109 deferred tax analysis, effective tax rate calculation, and FIN 48 requirements for international operations
• Review and/or prepare FIN 48 documentation and technical analysis and review other tax issue documentation
• Review US tax returns for all international subsidiaries
• Analysis of earnings and profits, Subpart F, withholding taxes, and foreign tax credit position
• Review the calculation of the Domestic Manufacturing Deduction and optimize methodologies utilized with the preparation of the foreign tax credit
• Direct the maintenance of global transfer pricing documentation, including monitoring changes world-wide to transfer pricing requirements
• Manage expatriate/inpatriate projects, including review of assignment agreements, cost estimates, tax equalization calculations, tax return preparation and filing, and developing solutions to disputes
• Joint responsibility with Domestic Tax Director for IRS audit process, specifically coordination, preparation and primary review of responses to auditor’s information requests and notice of proposed adjustments, and development of strategies to deal with unagreed issues and ultimate audit resolution
• Coordinate and assist with the foreign income tax audits as well as any international components of examinations by U.S. taxing jurisdictions
• Develop solid working relationships with foreign management and finance teams, resulting in a solid understanding of the workings of our foreign operations
• Participate in development and execution of global audit controversy and settlement strategies while recommending solutions that mitigate global tax risk and global tax cost
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Exceptional tax technical, accounting, analytical, and research skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Advanced knowledge of FAS 109 and FIN 48
• Strong project and people management skills
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to effectively present information to executive management
• Able to analyze complex and diverse problems and develop and implement logical and innovative solutions
• Able to lead projects and work effectively with an inter-disciplinary team
• Experience with SAP or other ERP software desirable
Requirements
Education and/or Experience:
• Bachelor's degree, with an emphasis in Business Administration, Accounting or other relevant area
• Minimum 10 years experience in public accounting and industry, including directing a corporate tax function
• MS Taxation or JD preferred
• Certified Public Accountant preferred
